I Could Never Tell The Moon Goodnight Without Saying Goodnight To You

“…the wind has a purpose – to rattle the window panes, disturb the cat and make me miss you …”
John Geddes, A Familiar Rain

There was thunder, lightning, and rain for a spell

Outside my window and inside my soul

As the day unfolded, I didn’t know I would miss you so

With every clap of thunder

Every flash of lightning

Every drop of rain that pounds the window

My heart pounds stronger

Love rages inside like an out of control bonfire

My eyes burn from the intensity of looking at your photos

I sit at the edge of my bed, swimming through thoughts of you

The thunder has quieted

The lightning flashes further off in the distance

The rain follows its siblings to another place

Love calms to warming embers

Goodnight, my love
