When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
And oh, there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love

“Make You Feel My Love” is a song written by Bob Dylan that appeared on his 1997 album Time Out of Mind. It was first released commercially by Billy Joel, under the title “To Make You Feel My Love”, before Dylan’s version appeared later that same year. It has since been covered by numerous performers and has proved to be a commercial success for recording artists such as Adele, Garth Brooks, Bryan Ferry and Kelly Clarkson. Two covers of the song (one by Garth Brooks and one by Trisha Yearwood) were featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 film Hope Floats. Dylan eventually released the song as a single.

I feel so proud when I can know the song before I even listen to it. Love it.

It is such a beautiful song, Syl! I did not know it was an older song. I even thought it was from Adele! But no matter who sings, the message is just beautiful!

I guess it’s just a Dylan type of day for you! Dylan has to be one of the most covered artists. I think it’s because he records them so raw and lyrically they’re so beautiful, they have the potential to have so much done with them, yet at the same time, sometimes his simple expression is my favorite.

Yeah, Dylan was flowing through me. He does have this raw simple style of single and it is inspiring. Thank you, Marissa!

These kinds of songs always remind me of God – standing there outside the door, just waiting for us to choose Him and let Him in. (Especially the last three verses) So deeply heartfelt, with the purest desire.
Thanks for this. ❤

You’re welcome and as the scripture says, God stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us to let him in.
