Rock Ballad of The Week: 3 Doors Down “Here Without You”

A hundred days have made me older
Since the last time that I saw your pretty face.
A thousand lies have made me colder
And I don’t think I can look at this the same.
All the miles that separate
Disappear now when I’m dreamin’ of your face.

I’m here without you baby
But you’re still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time.
I’m here without you baby
But you’re still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl, it’s only you and me.

The miles just keep rollin’
As the people leave their way to say hello
I’ve heard this life is overrated
But I hope that it gets better as we go.

I’m here without you baby
But you’re still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time.
I’m here without you baby
But you’re still with me in my dreams
And tonight, it’s only you and me.

Everything I know, and anywhere I go,
It gets hard but it won’t take away my love.
And when the last one falls, when its all said and done.
It gets hard but it won’t take away my love.

I’m here without you baby
But you’re still on my lonely mind.
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time.
I’m here without you baby
But you’re still with me in my dreams
And tonight, it’s only you and me.

Here Without You” is a song recorded by American rock band 3 Doors Down. It was released in August 2003 as the third single from the album Away from the Sun. It peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending November 8, 2003. Only their songs “Kryptonite” and “When I’m Gone” reached higher positions on the chart, peaking at #3 and #4 respectively. It has since been certified 2x Platinum in the United States and Platinum in Australia. While the Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock were the main formats for 3 Doors Down, it wasn’t expected to be a big success, the song was a moderate success hitting #14 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and #22 on the Modern Rock Tracks, it failed to top or reach #1 on both charts due to its soft rock ballads in the song compared to its original post-grunge sounds from their other songs including their 4 previous rock and alternative hits Kryptonite, Loser, Duck and Run, and When I’m Gone, but it still became a big hit making it their 3rd #1 Top 40 Mainstream hit and their 1st #1 Adult Top 40 hit for 13 consecutive weeks. After that, the song was played only on pop and adult contemporary stations, this song was not played on rock radio unlike their previous hits.

The song grew in popularity following the start of the Iraq War, and became an anthem for deployed troops and their families and friends at home.

  1. Love this song. The WWE also used it in memory of wrestler Eddie Guerrero, who died suddenly at the age of 38. Every time I hear it, it’s what I think of

  2. There are songs we seem to know but don’t know them at all. I never really listened to that song and just discover how beautiful it is. Distance hurts but cannot really separate when love is the connecting link. Thank you also for your song information always.
