Redemption’s Heart

The underpass was ahead

Once we crossed we knew it would never be the same

A part of us would be left behind

The cuts, scrapes and bruises our souls had to endure to get here

Here being the point of redemption

We had paid a price, but we could no longer live in a faux reality

The drive was long

The road unsure

From the onset we were committed to what we were constructing

Life, a new life

As we crossed under the overpass

We felt the weight of lost sighs leave our bodies

We drove on, our hands squeezing together like vice grips

We drove right into the heart of redemption

Our new life has begun
