Rock Ballad of The Week: Night Ranger “Time of Our Lives”

What’s the use of trying?
I’m tired of all the crying
If I had a choice, I’d choose a different voice
What’s the use in lying?

What’s the use in trying?
When you done your best, it’s high time
That you hit the road and don’t look back anymore
What’s the use in trying?

Hands in the air
Hands on my heart

When I look in your eyes, I forget for a while
There’s a world spinning round, life in motion
And I just wanna stay in your arms for a day
And we’ll live our love, it’s the time of our lives

I think you need some time
To help yourself unwind
‘Cause the way we live is to free ourselves
And you’ll give up alone crying

Hands in the air
Hands on my heart

When I look in your eyes, I forget for a while
There’s a world spinning round, life in motion
And I just wanna stay in your arms for a day
And we’ll live our love, it’s the time of our lives

You’ll always be the song in my heart
And I’ll sing your melody
And at the end of the day
You can take that away, oh

Hands in the air
Hands on my heart

When I look in your eyes, I forget for a while
There’s a world spinning round, life in motion
And I just wanna stay in your arms for a day
And we’ll live our love, it’s the time of our lives

When I look in your eyes, I forget for a while
There’s a world spinning round, life in motion
And I just wanna stay in your arms for a day
And we’ll live our love, it’s the time of our lives

Night Ranger is an American rock band from San Francisco that gained popularity during the 1980s with a series of albums and singles. The band’s first five albums sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. The quintet is perhaps best known for the power balladSister Christian“, which peaked at No. 5 in June 1984.

After their success waned in the late 1980s, the band split up in 1989 and its members pursued other musical endeavours including group and solo efforts. Brad Gillis and Kelly Keagy teamed up with bassist Gary Moon and released an album without the other original band members in 1995, but the band soon re-united to release two new albums in the latter half of the decade. Despite the departure of original keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald and guitarist Jeff Watson, the band has continued to tour and remains very popular in Asian countries, particularly Japan.

Somewhere in California is the tenth studio album by American hard rock band Night Ranger, released on June 21, 2011. It is the first album since the departure of original guitarist Jeff Watson in 2007. The album introduces new guitarist Joel Hoekstra and keyboardist Eric Levy. Although the previous three releases are regarded as different and more experimental for Night Ranger, this album has been noted as somewhat of a return to the signature Night Ranger sound from the successful 1980s releases. The first single and video from the album is “Growin’ Up In California”.

  1. Oh, such a great and romantic ballad! You always find the best ones, Sylvester! This one also goes so well along with your latest poem!

  2. I had the big Night Ranger album with Sister Christian on it. I lost touch with the band shortly after that. i don’t think I know this one. I’ll have to take a listen when my husband isn’t sleeping next to me!
