Those Old Bones

Someday, we will bury those old bones

Skeletal remains of old life memories

Someday, we will look back and there will be nothing left too see

There distance between what was and what is

Will be greater than the distance of what is and what will be

Driving through a patch of dusty and dry land

It is a bit hard to see the road ahead

In the mind it is all clear

But the eyes have a way of playing tricks when they are unsure

So with the heart intact we push the pedal

Hoping someday, the dust will settle and the road will be paved and smooth

For a very long stretch of time

And those old bones will be at peace with themselves
