Sacrifice and selflessness. We make sacrifices for others and we put others ahead of ourselves. This is a great attitude to have but as long as it is not at the expense of forgetting ourselves totally in the process.
Giving of ourselves to help/support is a natural act of life. We demonstrate kindness and compassion to those outside the family circle and we do our best to care for our loved ones. What happens when you begin to lose your sense of identity or you simply forget about you (it happens easier than you think)?
When you get to a point where you find yourself run down trying to be the do all, help all, then you know you need to take a breather and make sure you are looking after yourself also. This is not to say you should be self absorbed or totally selfish. Just make sure you give yourself some You time and remember you don’t have to always take the lead.
We can bend over backwards tending to everyone and trying to care of everything. It is not your back that will break, it is your soul.
Sometimes I need to take this advice myself Brother!

This is a wonderful reminder, Sylvester. Mostly we only notice that we went into that trap when we find ourselves exhausted and grasping for air. A great post and thoughg to start the week. Have a great week!

Thank you, Erika. We can burn out if we are not aware, but we can learn to keep things on a level so as not to get to that point. You have a great week too!

Yes, we are often closer to that burn out than we might think. Allowing us to have some me-space is something we need to learn again. Thank you again, for that input, Sylvester!
