#MondayThoughts: Paint Your Day

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Lets see, I woke up this morning knowing it was a workday. I could have been all bummed out because maybe I wanted a little more R & R. (I’m still trying to figure out how to get another day in between Saturday and Sunday). Instead I chose to go on the offensive and do everything possible to have a good day, no matter what the day itself had in store for me.

Attitude is a difference maker. Our day may go smooth or it might have its bumps and lumps. It is up to us to decide how we are going to approach the day right at the onset. With whatever attitude you choose to paint your day with, it will stick throughout the day. We know some paints can be fast drying and our attitude can become ingrained quickly and layered over and over again. Sure we can change our attitude at any moment, but wouldn’t it be less stressful if we started out with the right attitude from the start.

No need to be phony or a great pretender. Just be determined to have good attitude as you approach the day ahead. Do what you need to do, do what you have to do and leave all the mental junk in the junkyard. Also, do not let other’s negative funk attitude draw you in (in can happen in the blink of an eye). Again, it’s your attitude, your mind, your inner sanctum that is being decorated.

Stay inspired!

  1. Another great post! Timely for me too as I have been dreading this week especially tomorrow, Tuesday. Not going to do that anymore. It is going to be a great day!

  2. If we wait for the day to be nice to us or for others to make our day better we might become discouraged, have bad days, and blame the world. If we believe that others can create our days then we should consider ourselves too to have that creative power… and then it is in our control how we deal with what the day brings!! Great post, Sylvester!
