#MondayThoughts – At The Heart of Healing

We cannot go through this life without experiencing something that causes us hurt, pain or some kind of internal conflict. It is inevitable and the severity may vary.

Unless you are a totally selfish person, we all try to give the best of ourselves to others. We want the people around us and the people we interact with to be of good spirit, happy, healthy and feeling good about themselves and life. What about you? Do you get so caught up into caring for others or pleasing others that you empty yourself of you and find yourself running on fumes, unaware that you are totally spent.

You keep going, thinking it’s a phase and that you’ll snap out of it and be the person you know yourself to be…but, you don’t bounce back and there is no pep in your step mentally, physically or spiritually. What has happened?! You have exhausted yourself without taking the time to really take care of yourself and do those things that support your health and wellbeing overall.

At the heart of healing is acceptance. Accepting that we are troubled, struggling or suffering. Once we have acknowledged this then we need to start the healing process. What will it take for you to find healing and peace within?

What is therapeutic to you? Exercise, reading, mediation, prayer, indoor or outdoor activities? Seeking professional counseling is an option. We need to find and do what is best for us individually to maintain our physical, mental and spiritual health.

What good are you to others if you are not good within yourself?

  1. Hi Syl. Jane recommended your post which is how I ended up here. So much of your post resonated with me, particularly the words, “Do you get so caught up into caring for others or pleasing others that you empty yourself of you and find yourself running on fumes, unaware that you are totally spent?” I just wrote about this topic on my blog. https://petespringerauthor.wordpress.com/2021/10/08/im-still-a-teacher/
Thanks for the reminder to stay inspired and keep rising.
