#Haiku – 007, The Gentleman

“I’ve not planned my funeral. I’m not the Queen. A procession through the streets of Stockwell would be nice, I suppose. But when I go, I’d just like everyone to say: ‘He lived longer than anyone I knew.'”  – Sir Roger Moore 1927 -2017

Suave and quick witted

Continued Bond’s legacy

Spy and gentleman

Chris Cornell 1964 – 2017

I was shocked to hear about the sudden death of Chris Cornell. When grunge rock took over the music scene in the 90s, Soundgarden emerged as one of my favorite bands from that era. Chris had such a powerful voice and style. He was part of Temple of The Dog, a band put together as a tribute to Adrian Wood, former lead singer of Mother Love Bone.

Chris also was a member of Audioslave, which had members of Rage Against The Machine.  Prayers for his family and fellow band members.

Death is imminent

Expected and unexpected

Sudden

If we have today

Then we should live

With every fiber of our being

We should live

Fifteen Years

Fifteen years younger

Lightning struck twice

My eyes glued to the screen

Not understanding anything

Smoke and fire from the towers

Burning for hours

People failing

Not movie fiction

Desperation and panic

Onlookers in disbelief

America’s clock stopped

Silent streets

Lives lost

Survivors lost within

Devilish acts

Heinous minds

So much confusion

Fifteen years older

I remember that day

Probably will never forget

Lena (A Jazz Note)

Simply stunning

And not just on the silver screen

Her presence was captivating

Full of soul and grace

She epitomized elegance

Gifted, talented

Covering the spectrum of entertainment

Inspiring activist

She was a jazz note in human form

A Flower

You caught my eye in a movie musical

A story of love

Sweeping romance

The Flower Drum Song

Although I was young

You swept me away

I wish I had the vocal prowess

To carry you away

Every once in awhile

You come to mind

And I think about how you made me smile

Thank you for the gift in that light

The Flower Drum still beats

To my heart’s delight
