Life is filled with stressors and they can be laid out like landmines. The question is not knowing if we will react but how we choose to react.

At the workplace, at home, out in the general public, at school, the stressors are all around. They can send us in a tailspin emotionally if triggered. We do our best to maintain our stability but as we know we are all human and as strong as we believe we are, we can be just as vulnerable.

We must have a pie. Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie.

Find what helps you best cope with and overcome stress. Prayer, meditation, exercise, music, writing, reading, singing and the countless number of ways to handle stress. Most importantly, pause before you react (if possible) because that small delay might help you from derailing emotionally.

Life will not always be a smooth road. We will be tested in one way or another. There will be times when you have to rise above negative influences and impulses. If things do not go your way it doesn’t mean there is no way, you only need to be open to other routes.

Use opposition as a learning tool for inner growth and to discover more about your capabilities. What might appear formidable doesn’t necessarily mean it is insurmountable. It might not be easy to but if you can keep your heart, spirit and mind in good order, you will do great things and just might surprise yourself on your journey.

#MondayThoughts: Darkness and Light (The War)

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

There is a constant war between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. At times it is seen in the physical realm when we are exposed to despicable acts of evil and tragic events. There is the war being waged in the spiritual realm, angels and demons going head to head. The kingdom of Heaven against the kingdom of Satan, all for the souls of mankind. Now, there is also the war being fought within you. The struggle between the dark soldiers of fear, anxiety, worry, low esteem, doubt, among other things and the soldiers of light, acceptance, love, joy, peace, goodness and more.

We get lost in the dark, when it is pitch black and you cannot see your hand in front of your face. We get lost on dark roads, when there are no lights or illuminated guide lines. We stumble in the the dark and drift on dark roads, hoping to find our way and direction. It is sad when people succumb to hopeless and they get stuck so deep in it that even when presented with a hopeful outlook or solution, they remain in a dark perspective, not accepting the light.

It is not the absence of light but the decision to ignore the light. We can be knee deep in crap but we do not have to stand in it complaining that we’re knee deep in crap. If there is a way out then get out and stop embracing the “feeling sorry for yourself mentality,” that is a lonely island to live on. There are those who thrive on the”misery loves company” life and are in a constant state of something always being wrong. These are life drainers because they suck the life right out of you.

Now, time to breathe.

We all have that inner war going on and it may or may not show on the outside. Do not let yourself slide into that hole of hopelessness because there is always hope. It’s not just about looking on the bright side but believing a bright side exist in the first place. When you give up on you, basically you are telling life “I call it quits.” From that point your life begins to evaporate and you are just here with your own reality and truths. The darkness has prevailed, you are stumbling in the dark and drifting on the road.

There are problems and there are solutions. There is life and there is death (not just physical). There is darkness and there is light. You do not have to be afraid of the light. You do not have to be afraid to live.

#MondayThoughts: Passing Through Adversity

Adversity – noun: difficulties, misfortune

We all face adversity from time to time. The road is not always a smooth one. The degree of difficulty and the weight of misfortune will vary and it can be quite disheartening.

Yet, we will pass through. One way or another we will pass through. Who will we be coming out on the other side? Ideally we want to come out stronger, wiser and more centered, but adversity leave us at a lost, losing a piece of our inner being. Adversity can affect our psyche, our spiritual and physical well-being. Perspective is the key.

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.

Adversity will come, how you approach it is solely your decision. Don’t believe you have to pay a toll to cross the bridge. When you believe that it will be well on the other side then the bridge to that point will open. Pray, meditate, envision it. Adversity should be nothing more than a stumbling block, if that, on your life’s journey.

#MondayThoughts: Self-Doubt, GET OUT!

I liken self doubt to being in basement and convincing yourself that you don’t belong on the first floor. “Come on, get real, who do you think you are?”, that little annoying voice will say to you. You know what you have to do…IGNORE IT! First of all, do not get caught up into what someone else is doing and accomplishing. Meaning, don’t compare yourself and your progress to others. Be happy for those who are doing well and lift up those who are having a rough go of things.

People can make you feel like you’re not good enough. Not good enough for a job, not good enough for certain events, not good enough to achieve personal goals, not good enough to be in certain relationships. Those people you can turn a deaf ear towards and let them live in their egotistical, puffed up, negative world. Who has time for that shit. I am here to encourage an inspire, not to drag anyone down.

Once you discover your wings, strengthen them by spreading them and attempting to fly. In no time you will go farther and further than you thought possible.

Now, stop putting yourself down. Stop disbelieving in yourself and start believing in you. YOU CAN DO THE MOST AMAZING THINGS WHEN YOU BELIEVE! It’s not about what other people think, it’s not about what circumstances try and have you believe, and it is definitely not about that annoying little voice trying to talk you out of what you want to do. YOU ARE AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING! YOU CAN DO THE MOST AMAZING THING WHEN YOU BELIEVE!

#MondayThoughts: No Access

Don’t ever stop believing in your own transformation. It is still happening even on days you may not realize it or feel like it.

It only takes one negative thought to send you spiraling into the negative zone. Negative thoughts can be so convincing as to why you cannot do or accomplish something. They lay out all the false facts and then they bring in their partner in crime, fear, to finish the job. Definitely a devastating one – two punch.

Wait a second, why do I have to allow negative thoughts access to my mind? Sure, they will pop up and knock but there’s no law saying I have to answer. We can be positive about life, about every situation but even positively tends to wane a bit under duress. Negative thoughts have that kind of dismantling affect, where they can take apart our confidence by multiplying rapidly and before we know it, we are on the verge of either changing our mind or giving up.

Turn the dial up on your passion, determination, confidence, faith and everything that empowers you to reach your desired goals. Break them down to immediate, mid-term and long term goals then go from there. Do not let negative questions fill your gas tank, instead, fill it with reminders of why you are pursuing your goals (dreams).

Negativity and fear only work when we allow them access to our mind. They can knock all they want but you do not have to let them in.

#MondayThoughts: Turning Point

When you are faced with a challenge you reach a turning point. Either you turn and run away or you turn in the direction the challenge and meet it head on. – Syl

The odds may be against you. What you must face seems formidable. Sure, you can go into the opposite direction but then you live with that “what could have been” thought lingering in your mind.

We are capable of achieving great things when we set our mind, heart and spirit in motion as one. What looks impossible or what looks like an insurmountable task can be made possible or overcome. Do not short change yourself. We never need to settle for the path of least resistance. Every new day is an opportunity to rise above it all.
